women's portraits boston glamour photography

?I really love that the whole experience feels so personal. Your live/work studio space is relaxing and fun to be in, and makes the session feel down-to-earth and unintimidating. ?

This gorgeous muse is also a photographer.? We met through our mutual friend, Gabi, who creates lovely illustrations. ? She thought it might be fun to shoot with and have a go at being in front of a camera for a change.? As you can see she rocks both in front and behind the lens.??

In black cigarette pants and a flirty mesh black blouse, the look was fashion and flirty, sexy and modest.? Paired with electric blue shoes, it was a modern combination.?

We had a great time together.? She arrived a little nervous about being properly prepared with all the right “stuff.” Not a “girly” girl, she doesn’t regularly get her nails done or her hair done.? We were able to create amazing portraits based on just a few simple wardrobe pieces. Soft, natural make up (until the black lipstick, of course) for the first two looks.? We added loose curls to the front of her hair to help as she is growing out a pixie cut.?

?Girl, get your butt over there and do it! If you?re anything like me, you?re going-going-going seemingly all the time, and don?t stop to give yourself some love often enough. This isn?t about treating yourself to material things that make you feel excited temporarily, this is about pressing ?pause? on life and seeing yourself in a new, and special, light. It?s a memorable experience, and I think we all need that sometimes. ?

Even though her wedding was a few years ago, she brought in her dress (in a rolling suitcase! on the subway!)? What a great opportunity to reuse a wedding gown and her wedding dress was gorgeous. I wanted to style her simply, to keep the jewelry minimal and make it about her grace.?

We ended the session with a bolder look – grey eyeshadow, black lipstick, an off the shoulder top and one terrifically long earring.? In stark contrast to the soft feminine portraits in her wedding dress, I love this series. Her skin looks particularly luminous.??

Thank you, Lorna! For coming in to the studio, graciously accepting your role as muse, facing any anxiety about being in front of the camera and trusting the Modern Muse process.?
