LR Mobile Boudoir Presets!
On the heels of our selfie guide (and you can snag your own free copy of Slay Your Selfies right here!) my friend {hey Meg!} who does all my copyediting for me suggested that I create a set of boudoir presets. Cool. I thought. Why not add yet another thing on my giant list of things to do. I’ll poke around in LR mobile and see if I can do that. And it turns out that I can do that! And I had so much fun making them.
I can’t wait to share the with you and especially to see what you create with them.? Between the selfies practice and these yummy tactile and sensual presets – you are guaranteed to #revelinyourownmagic.
What Are Presets?
The photographic process can be both simple and maddeningly? complicated. Little tweaks, slight changes can make a big difference in how the final image comes together, or not. A huge part of the process happens in camera – and that is the lighting, the exposure and the composition (and of course with portraits also posing and facial expressions).? Post-processing comes into play next? . . . and here is where the behind the scenes fun can really happen.? A good image will look amazing with the right post processing. And a meh image will still look . . well . . . meh.? Presets are a way to jump start the post processing refining. They are essentially filters – a way of saving the same edits and adjustments from one photo so you can easily re-apply the same edits to multiple photos – not unlike the ubiquitous filters that Instagram introduced the world to in 2010.
Why Do People Use Presets?
- Save Time. You can quickly apply the same edits to a series of images.
- Look consistent. Keeping that IG feed looking cohesive is a thing.
- A Custom and Recognizable Look. When people see it, they know it’s yours.
Why These Presets?
After making my own presets and adjusting ones that I bought, I started honing in on the look I wanted for boudoir. It was soft. It had grain. It was tactile and sensual. A lot of playing out of the virtual sessions and exploring what happens with phone captured images compared to image captured with an SLR. I started to built presets that worked well with phone captures and front facing cameras and worked well with images taken in low lighting and indoors.? I finally put together a collection of my 8 favorite presets – 4 color and 4 monotone.
