Boudoir Photoshoot Makeup

Modern Muse Boudoir sessions are about expressing the beauty of you as an individual – and that means you get a say in how (or if) you have styling done. We love our stylists! And we encourage everyone who books a session to take advantage of using them.?

The camera sees your face differently than the mirror does. And different than your front facing phone camera! Makeup for a photoshoot tends to look heavier in the mirror, but that is okay because the camera will ?eat? some of the makeup and make it look, in some cases, like you have none on at all. This is why we include styling with our boudoir photoshoots, so you look your best!?

I love watching makeup tutorials! And I love watching out stylists work too! Youtube?s heart beats with beauty gurus and their tutorials – from the ?no makeup? look to full on Awards Show Glamazon – and you can get lost in that rabbit hole if you want to.? But if you don?t we narrowed it down to 3 boudoir makeup looks for you to choose from.?

Before Your Boudoir Shoot

Arrive for your boudoir session with a clean and moisturized face. Any waxing or hair removal should be done at least 48 hours prior to your photoshoot. Hair should be dry and either freshly washed or preferably one day post wash as it holds style better than freshly washed hair.

If your lips are dry (hello, I see you New England winters!), a homemade brown sugar and coconut oil scrub works wonders. If you have an absolute favorite lip color, bring it along. If they have any products that you love, you are welcome to bring those too.? we don?t mind using your own favorites, so long as we can assure that you are camera ready.?

As you think about how you want to look in your boudoir photo shoot, we wanted to share some examples of the top three makeup looks for boudoir.? Like with what to wear to your boudoir shoot and what kinds of lingerie for a boudoir session, there are a lot of options when you start thinking about the kind of makeup for your boudoir photo shoot.

Boudoir Makeup Inspo

I?ve found that these three looks are the most popular with my boudoir clients.?

Babe Without Trying

Our most requested look is this healthy and rosy glow with neutral eye and pink/neutral lip.? Dewy skin and a clean brow anchor this boudoir look – the quintessential Babe Without Trying.?

Smokey Eyes

Want a little mystery? A little Edge? ?Second only to Babe Without Trying is this more dramatic Smokey Eye Boudoir Makeup look.? The eyebrows get a little stronger, and the eyes get played up with shadow and contouring.? Pair with neutral/pink lip to keep the focus on the strong eyes. This can go a little retro if you want.

Strong Lip

As always, we start with a flawless and clean complexion and here keep focus on the mouth. The eyebrows are a little stronger and crisp liner balances the strong lip color while keeping the focus on the mouth. A classic red is always beautiful – and there is a shade of red for everyone, we promise.?
