Men’s Boudoir Photos
We don’t only work with women here! We all have complicated and, I hope eventually positive, relationships with our bodies. Men included. And anyone can benefit a boudoir portrait session.
Sharing some intimate portraits of Donnie today. He was a sweetheart – full of great energy and stories about his life as a husband, a dad, an advocate for families and, oh yeah, his side gig as a superhero. As with anyone I make portraits of, I like to keep the “sets” very simple so that the person shines through.
Traditionally there are some difference in how men and women have been posed, lit and photographed. Male bodies have been historically portrayed to highlight a muscular and “masculine” form. But as we know – men can be soft and sensual. Women can be strong and muscular. Let’s not let preconceived notions about gender get in our way, right?
Like the majority of the work we do, this men’s boudoir shoot has minimal post-production. Aside from a burn on his lip (anything that’s not usually on your body like said burn or a blemish or a bruise is usually removed) there’s no photoshop. Well maybe a little dodging and burning to emphasize his form. 🙂
We shot this male boudoir entirely in natural light – manipulating window light with bounce cards and curtains to create shadows to being out the Donnie’s muscle tone.
